Katya Gruzglina, MFT-LP - Associate Therapist
Katya helps you build awareness of the behaviors and emotions that might be leaving you feeling stuck, meets you with curiosity and compassion, and facilitates healing for a radically improved life. Her warm, empathic, and genuine presence creates a safe and welcoming space for your therapeutic journey to unfold.
Katya received her Masters of Psychology with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy from Our Lady of The Lake University. She completed a one year internship at the Michael E. Debakey VA Medical Center in Houston, Texas where she worked with military veterans and their partners to help them navigate the effects of trauma, anxiety, and depression on their relationships, while helping them build richer, more meaningful connections with one another and themselves. Katya has trained in various evidence-based modalities such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) as well as postmodern practices like Narrative Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy. Katya brings her background in the performing arts into the therapy space, exploring the ways that emotion gets stored in the body. Her approach is collaborative and client-centered, firmly grounded in a foundation of safety and trust. As an immigrant, cultural humility is embedded into Katya’s practice and she strives to continuously learn from and honor each person’s rich life experiences. |
