This two-day retreat combines Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples and body-oriented practices to create a holistic approach to your relationship. In a nurturing and joyful space, you will explore tools to embody your connection and rediscover one another. A true retreat for your relationship!

This retreat includes:
  • Ingredients of sustainable, secure relationships; common blocks to connection; conflict resolution skills
  • Guided experiential exercises, including gentle body-oriented practices curated to nurture the inherent magic between you
  • Discussions (in a group or with your partner, depending on your preference)

Irina Wen is a sought-after couples therapist in NY and a certified therapist and supervisor in EFT, a humanistic, attachment-based, research-supported model of couples therapy. Ian Wen is a movement teacher whose innovative workshops are known for their unique, intimacy and genuine self and group discoveries. Together we bring our passion and expertise in helping people develop deep and meaningful connections.

Space is limited to give you and your partner meaningful attention in a small group setting. This retreat is open to only 10 couples (20 participants).

Please note that this program is not therapy and does not substitute couples or individual therapy. It is for educational and explorational purposes only. The retreat facilitators can offer you referrals to individual or couples therapy and recommendations on ways to continue your work after the workshop.

This retreat takes place at the beautiful Seligmann Center (23-26 White Oak Drive, Sugar Loaf, NY 10981) in scenic Warwick Valley, New York. The space is notable for a spacious conference room, inspiring installation sculptures on the grounds, and nature all around.

After the workshop, you are welcome to explore many amazing hiking trails, restaurants, shops, and farms in the surrounding areas of Warwick and Sugar Loaf, NY. The space is located just over an hour away from New York City, which gives you an option of going to and from the workshop each day or making it into a weekend retreat by staying in one of the local inns.

About the retreat facilitators

Irina Wen, Ph.D. is an attachment-focused therapist and a trauma expert. She is a dedicated practitioner of Emotionally Focused Couple's Therapy (EFT) and is a certified EFT Therapist and Supervisor. She is passionate about helping people build stronger, more secure relationship with themselves and others. Dr. Wen’s private practice Touchstone Psychology, PLLC offers psychotherapy to couples and individuals and teaching, supervision, and consultation to other clinicians. Dr. Wen is a clinical associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry at NYU Langone Health where she has been a part of the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Center (MFC) at NYU Langone Health for almost 10 years. 
Ian Wen, MFA is a movement teacher based in New York City. Over thirty years, he has dedicated himself to helping others explore authentic exchange using the body as a field for physical and spiritual exploration. “Letting the body talk” is a way of acknowledging the innate wisdom our bodies contain, expressing what cannot be simply articulated by the conscious, rational mind. Combining different somatic healing modalities, he is devoted to cultivating a wholistic sense of self and self in relationship with the Other. He has taught, devised, and performed extensively, including internationally in Greece, Netherlands, Mexico, and Ukraine. On faculty at Brooklyn College for over 20 years, he teaches performance to both MFA and BFA students. Along with Irina Wen, he is co-founder and co-artistic director of De Novo Dance, and the recipient of multiple grants for creating new works and for collaborating with senior communities.

Know before you go

​We are so excited to see you at the retreat and support your relationship journey! Once you are registered, you will receive a welcome email with details and resources. Here are a few notes on what to know and how to prepare. Basically, there is not much to prepare! Wear comfortable clothes and bring yourself, your open heart, curiosity, and intention to connect with your partner. We will provide refreshments during the workshop but note that lunch is not served. We have many recommended local area food options to share with you.

Lodging/accommodations: If you are planning to stay in Warwick for the weekend, we can recommend local accommodations.
