Need for ConnectionWe all have an innate need to connect. This need is a big part of our neurobiology as well as our emotional well-being. We tend to do our best when we feel a sense of belonging and encouragement from others, and suffer when we feel unsupported. Disconnected couples often come in feeling angry, stressed, and lonely.

Unproductive Patterns
It is not uncommon for couples to get stuck in painful cycles of silence, fighting, and resentment. As a result, the relationship becomes tense and unfulfilling. Rather than embracing and complementing one another’s strengths, couples often come into therapy focused on their differences.
- Do you want to improve your relationship but seem to get stuck in the same arguments again and again?
- Do you feel disconnected from your partner and misunderstood?
- Do you have a sense of hopelessness, having lost trust in the viability of the relationship?
- Are you looking to heal past injuries in the relationship (e.g., infidelity, betrayal of trust)?
- Or are you in a new relationship and are looking to enhance connection and understanding, and create deeper bond with your partner?
- Are you dealing with life transitions (e.g., birth of a child, moving, loss) that are affecting your relationship and communication?
Effective Treatment: Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
You don’t need to remain in a vicious cycle of stress, conflict, and disconnection. I can help you and your partner to change negative patterns and develop stronger connection and understanding of each other through Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
EFT is an evidence-based couples therapy model aimed at strengthening or repairing relationship bonds and building more security and connection between partners. Research shows that 70-75% couples who complete EFT move from distress to recovery, and 90% of couples show significant improvement. Through our work together, you will learn to stop your negative cycles from controlling your relationship, and restore trust, intimacy, and safety.
As a certified EFT therapist, I offer warm, open, and validating space for you and your partner to engage in conversations to build, repair, or renew your relationship. The couples counseling sessions typically occur weekly and last 50-60 minutes. During the session, I help you and your partner connect to the feelings and experiences in your relationship, make sense of them together, and to share your feelings and needs with each other in a non-blaming way.
We work together to break through your cycle of disconnection and conflict by having you practice more vulnerable conversations during the sessions that promote greater bond between you and your partner. Through relentless empathy, I help you feel seen, heard, and understood. As you feel more connected with your partner, you can find effective solutions to life problems together.
